PRIVACY POLICY - MINUTE OF SILENCE (A MINUTE OF SILENCE / MOS)

This Privacy Policy describes how the "Minute of Silence" mobile application (also referred to as "A Minute of Silence" or "MoS"; hereinafter the "Application") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Application.
The Application is operated by Vyacheslav Belyk (hereinafter "we", "us", or "the Operator").

1. SUMMARY
- The Application does not require registration or an account.
- Your personal memorial events, photos, and files you attach are stored on your device.
- The Resources directory (organization listings) is loaded from the internet.
- We do not upload your personal memorial content to our servers.
- Limited technical data may be sent to service providers to keep the Application working and to fix crashes.
- We do not sell your personal information.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
2.1 Information Stored on Your Device
When you use the Application, the following information is stored locally on your device:
- Memorial events you create: title, description, date, category, mourning type, and related settings
- Reminder preferences you set for memorial dates (such as notification times and repeat options)
- Photos and files you attach to memorial events (stored in local device storage)
- Application settings: language, theme, date and time format, first day of week, notification preference, onboarding status
- Cached reference data for the Resources directory (countries, regions, cities, categories) to improve loading speed
This information remains on your device unless you delete it or uninstall the Application.
2.2 Information Sent to Service Providers
The Application may send the following information to third-party services:
- Crash and error reports: when the Application fails or encounters an error, diagnostic information (such as device model, operating system version, error details, and stack traces) may be sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics to help us identify and fix problems.
- Resources directory requests: when you open the Resources section, the Application sends read-only requests over the internet to Supabase (our database hosting provider) to load public organization listings and reference data. These requests do not include your personal memorial events.
- Voluntary support payments: if you choose to support the Application through Google Play, the payment is processed entirely by Google. We do not receive or store your payment card or bank account details. Google may share limited purchase confirmation information with us (such as that a payment was completed).
2.3 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- User accounts, usernames, passwords, or email addresses for login (the Application has no registration)
- Precise GPS or device location
- Microphone recordings
- Your personal memorial content on our servers
- Advertising profiles or data sold to advertisers (the Application does not use advertising networks)
2.4 When You Contact External Organizations
If you tap a phone number, website, email, or messenger link on a resource card, you leave the Application and interact directly with that third party. We do not control and are not responsible for how those organizations handle your information.
3. DEVICE PERMISSIONS
The Application may request the following permissions on your device:
- Internet access: to load the Resources directory and reference data, and to send crash reports
- Camera: to take photos you choose to attach to memorial events
- Photos and media library: to select images or files you choose to attach to memorial events
- Notifications: to send memorial date reminders and Application service notifications when this feature is available; you can turn notifications off in Application settings
- Storage (on older Android versions): to save and access files you attach to memorial events
You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings. Some features may not work if a required permission is denied.
4. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use the information described above to:
- Provide and operate the Application and its features
- Load and display the public Resources directory
- Store your memorial events and settings on your device
- Diagnose, fix, and prevent Application errors and crashes
- Process voluntary support payments through Google Play
- Improve the Application over time
- Comply with applicable legal requirements
5. INFORMATION SHARING
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We may share information only in the following situations:
- Service providers: Google (Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports; Google Play for voluntary payments) and Supabase (hosting public directory data) process data on our behalf to operate the Application
- With your action: when you choose to share memorial content or open external links (phone, website, messenger) from resource cards
- Legal requirements: when required by applicable law, court order, or lawful request from authorities
- Protection of rights: to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the Operator, users, or the public, where permitted by law
6. DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION
- Personal memorial data: stored on your device until you delete individual events, clear Application data, or uninstall the Application
- Cached directory data: stored on your device and may be refreshed when you use the Resources section
- Crash reports: retained according to Google Firebase Crashlytics policies
- We do not maintain a cloud backup of your personal memorial events
7. NOTIFICATIONS
The Application includes a notifications setting. When memorial date reminders and Application service notifications are available, the Application may send local notifications based on your preferences and may request notification permission on your device.
You can disable notifications in the Application settings or in your device settings at any time.
8. FUTURE FEATURES
We may add or change features in future updates. These may include, without limitation:
- Video creation, editing, export, and sharing
- A public world events calendar
- Promoted or paid listings in the Resources directory
- Usage analytics
- Engagement notifications and in-app prompts
If new features involve additional data collection or sharing, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, request your consent before collecting new types of data.
9. CHILDREN
The Application addresses themes of memory, loss, and mourning. It is intended for general audiences. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for deciding whether the Application is suitable for a child and for supervising a child's use.
The Application does not offer user accounts and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through registration. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at minuteofsilence.app@gmail.com.
10. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
You may:
- Delete your local data by removing memorial events within the Application, clearing Application data in your device settings, or uninstalling the Application
- Disable notifications in Application or device settings
- Deny or revoke device permissions (camera, media, notifications) in your device settings
- Contact us at minuteofsilence.app@gmail.com with questions about this Privacy Policy or your data
Because the Application does not use accounts and does not store your personal memorial content on our servers, we cannot remotely delete data from your device. You control data stored on your device.
11. SECURITY
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through the Application. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of information on your device or data sent to service providers.
12. INTERNATIONAL DATA PROCESSING
Our service providers (including Google and Supabase) may process information in countries other than your own. By using the Application, you acknowledge that information may be transferred to and processed in such countries, subject to applicable law and the policies of those providers.
13. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when changes are made. Significant changes may be communicated through the Application or on our website at https://minuteofsilenceapp.blogspot.com.
Your continued use of the Application after an updated Privacy Policy is published means you accept the updated policy.
